The Best Fish Fry Recipe Ever

Look no further. This is it.

I’ve been on the hunt for a works-for-everything fish fry and breading recipe for a while, and I finally found it in some guy’s YouTube video. I have no idea who he is, but I’m confident saying that he deserves a culinary Nobel Prize.

It’s super easy and super fantastic, and I’m primarily posting it here so I can find it easily the next time I need it.

It worked with catfish and tilapia, which are what I used tonight. There was absolutely zero fishy taste. None. I’m still beside myself. Lyla helped make it and even ate a respectable amount.

The breading measurements are rough estimates.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 2-3 cups grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2-3 tablespoons Lawry’s seasoned salt
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon paprika

Instructions:

  1. Mix the breading ingredients together in a bowl.
  2. Scramble a few eggs in a separate bowl.
  3. Dunk the fillet or nugget into the egg wash.
  4. Toss the egg-coated fish into the breading bowl and coat well.
  5. Heat frying oil to 350–375°F and add the appropriate number of fillets or nuggets. Don’t overcrowd the pan.
  6. Fry until golden brown and buoyant (about 3–5 minutes).
  7. Eat them all.
